The Quality Inn Shelburne should not be a 4.0 rating on Trip Advisor. One description says “refurbished rooms”, but our room was definitely NOT refurbished. It was old, rundown and had a musty smell. One morning the shower only had barely lukewarm water … great way to start the day! One day our room did not get any maid service. We were away hiking all day and came back to our room exhausted only to find it not made up and no fresh towels or soap and shampoo. Went to the front desk to get towels, soap and shampoo and all they said was sorry we are fully booked and just didn't get to it. Really? The next day we came back again at night after a long day away. This time the room was made up, but there was no soap / shampoo. So again we had to go the front desk and get it. We spoke to the manager when checking out. She said sorry, but again that they were fully booked and very busy. Yes they were very busy with other rooms, but not our room. Extremely disappointed with this hotel, especially after paying such a high price.

We booked a room based entirely on Tripadvisor's #1 ranking, the appeal of the advertised pool and jacuzzi, and the fact that it was a Choice Properties franchise. What a mistake. This is a worn-out older motel that is in need of a major renovation. When we went to use the pool and jacuzzi, we discovered it was closed and the pool was drained. A paper sign on the door said "Closed for renovation". The furniture in our room showed physical signs of wear and the carpeting was old and worn. The heating register in the bathroom was rusted and wallpaper was blistering. There was some mold around the shower. In our travels, we have never previously found such substandard conditions in any Choice branded hotel.
