Hi,
I was just staying at this hotel for a convention my group was attending. When we got to our room we walked into the bathroom and there was a ton of mold on the shower ceiling. My coworker’s room had mold on their bathroom door. My other coworkers killed 2 out 3 cockroaches they saw. The rooms smelt musty and it looked like someone sat on our beds before we even got in. The showers were dirty and there were dead bugs on the floor. As someone who used to do janitorial work....it would take 2 extra minutes to fix those issues.
Guest service: one lady was very nice and kind to us....out of the 3 that worked while we stayed. One lady (who wasn’t in uniform) was talking on her cellphone the whole time I was asking for a reactivation for our keycards (they accidentally deactivated them so that other people could go in our rooms to clean the AC units but yet it was our fault). My coworker went to get her’s reactivated and the lady finally got off her cellphone (she had been talking for over 25 min.) she asked her what she needed and asked her some other questions in a rude tone of voice and actually rolled her eyes at my coworker. (My coworker is literally the sweetest lady ever, we were all very polite.) Then when the next group came in to activate their cards I went up with them to share my theory about accidentally deactivating our keycards to give a key to the AC people and I was immediately told I wasn’t right by 2 employees.
Fast forward to that night... my coworker and I went to go swimming. The sign clearly says 9:00 am to 10:00 pm. It was 9 pm. I walked to the front desk to ask for towels, the lady said “oh the pool is closed”. I calmly stated that the sign said differently and she responded with “did they get a new sign and not tell me?” I walked with her to the pool to show her the sign. We got to the gate and I showed her the sign and she said “I have worked here for 4 years and we’ve always closed at 9 pm. I didn’t lock the gate because I don’t know where the key is.”
I have stayed in a ton of hotels. I will never stay here again. It’s not clean and I found the guest service people (except for the one) to be rude.

I went in with a co-worker on this room for our in-office day, mostly so we could miss the worst of the Huntsville-Decatur traffic, which is absolutely awful. It's just off University Drive (U.S. 72), not far from Research Park Boulevard.
The room was plenty big for two people, with two queen beds. The beds were comfortable and made up with clean linens. Our room also included a fridge and microwave, which were also clean.
The bathroom was clean and the water was hot, with good water pressure. The WiFi was reliable and my laptop connected without any problems.
The parking lot and surrounding areas are well lit and the hotel is in easy walking distance from at least three sit-down restaurants.
This was a mid-week visit so it was primarily business travelers like myself, most of whom have no interest in loud parties so the hotel itself was very quiet. That's also good when you're a female traveling alone. My co-worker arrived very late and said she felt safe in the parking lot, too.
Breakfast had a good number of choices, although the coffee could use some work. Maybe switch to urns instead of that weird dispensing machine? And I saw plenty of salt packets, but never did find the pepper.
In the bathroom, the safety bar had come away from the wall at the bottom and needs to be repaired. Also, the air-conditioner, while working, made a buzzing noise that woke me up when the compressor kicked on. Probably needs some attention.
Both desk clerks I interacted with were pleasant and efficient, with no problems on check in.
Still, it's a good, safe location and the next time I need a place to stay when I want to avoid the morning commute from Decatur, I'll definitely consider this hotel.
