Overview

Set on the beach of the beautiful Angra dos Reis Bay, the Portobello Resort is surrounded by towering mountains and the lush Atlantic Forest. It’s fairly small as far as resorts go, but offers a pleasant and private vacation experience. You can choose a standard two-queen room, or get a suite with a queen bed and sofa bed (the resort is not an ideal choice for larger families). When everyone gets hungry, head to one of the restaurant buffets for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, or order a pizza on the marina.
One of the main recreational draws of the Portobello Resort is its safari area, which is home to about 500 exotic animals like zebras, camels, and antelope; you can try to spot these and others during a Jeep tour, and may even be able to pet some. Cool off in one of the two onsite pools, or explore the area to find the several natural pools; alternately, you can enjoy water sports on the private beach. Kids ages 4 to 12 can join the Mini-Club for supervised play while parents enjoy a meal or drinks in the lounge.

We spent the weekend at Portobello Resort and Safari with our daughters and the weekend of terrific! The weather was perfect, calm ocean and our daughters have great time! The food is very good and you can go to a mini safari to take pictures with some animals. You have to book with front desk when you arrive or call before to the hotel.
Adults can enjoy the beach and the pool as well.

This resort is well located, very near to Angra dos Reis and just 1:45min car ride from Rio de Janeiro. The resort has a good landscape, a private beach, and many activities for kids including a “safari” with lots of animals. The pool is not so big, but you are just in front of the beach. Don’t expect crystal clear sea water, you are not on a Caribbean island. Angra dos Reis is a spot that rains quite often. You should consider the chances of raining one in each two days. Portobello is good for families with kids. If you’re looking for something that joins relaxation with a little fun and some adventure, you should try something else in Parati, a beautiful historical city 2.3 hours from Rio.
All beverages at the hotel are not included so take care as they are quite expensive and you cannot eat whenever you want as other all-inclusive resorts. You will be limited to time schedules. Meals in between are paid.
The room is comfortable, clean and simple, don’t expect nothing else. What makes the difference is that all rooms are just a few meters’ front of the beach and have a little balcony that you can sit and chill.
Service is average. When you arrive by car it will be parked by a employee. When I was leaving they brought me back my car and I noticed that the employee did not know how to drive a SUV and did a small damage. From 1 to 10, I would give a 7,8 considering everything.
