The 8 Best Portable Potties and Toilets

See recent posts by Megan Johnson

Summer is here, and with it comes road trips and day trips, and when you have kids, it means that, almost inevitably, at least once you’ll hear “I have to go to the bathroom” when you’re on a stretch of road without a rest stop for miles. And while mother nature can provide a rustic bathroom experience, that has the potential to get a bit, well, messy. Things would go a lot smoother if you had a portable toilet/potty on hand. Here are our picks for the best portable toilets.

1. OXO Tot 2-in-1 Go Potty

This 2-in-1 Go Potty from OXO may just save your sanity someday. It sets up quickly, making those emergency times less stressful, and it can be used on the ground outside, or will also attach to a public restroom toilet. When using it as a stand-alone toilet, you can attach a disposable bag to the bottom to catch the waste, so you literally can stop anywhere to use it. My only suggestion is to pre-attach the bag so you don’t have to attach it during those emergency stops!

2. ONEDONE Portable Baby Child Potty Urinal

Did you ever think you’d find a cute urinal? I certainly didn’t, but here we are! This portable children’s urinal is small, easy to use, and reusable. Available for both boys and girls, if you’re brave enough, they won’t even have to get out of the car to use it! Small enough to fit in your bag or purse, and it has a strong sealing, no leak lid.

3. Playtex Potty Genie Disposable Travel Potty

If rinsing out portable toilets grosses you out, then this disposable travel potty by Playtex is for you. It is super compact, so you can easily keep one in your car, or your bag when you are on the go, and once a child uses it, you just close it up, and throw it away! It holds a child up to 60 pounds. The only downside is they only come in one-packs, so for a longer trip, you will probably want to buy a few. Zensuno also has a disposable potty, which comes in three packs.

4. Grneric Portable Toilet

Imagine a toilet not much bigger than your cell phone. You’ll imagine no longer with the Grneric Portable Toilet. Weighing less than twelve ounces, it’s made out of environmentally friendly materials, and will hold up to 132 pounds. It’s easy to set up, and you can use it with a disposable potty liner, making clean-up a breeze.

5. Tinukim Portable Potty 2-in-1 Travel Toilet Seat

The Tinukim Portable Potty is a classic travel potty that folds up nicely for easy transport and comes with 100 disposable liner bags, perfect for an effortless clean-up.  It has a maximum weight capacity of 50 pounds.

6. My Carry Potty

Who knew there were so many cute portable toilet options out there? The My Carry Potty may take the prize for cuteness though. The design is genius: with a little handle so kids can carry it around like a suitcase, plus it comes in adorable animal designs or fun colors, it will make your toddler want to use the potty! It has a weight limit of 110 pounds, non-slip feet, a leak-proof seal, and a secure locking mechanism.
