Relatively Excellent

This place was a great deal $-wise and really clean. We stayed in room 10 with a nice breeze with a couple windows open. Don’t let the room cost or need to pick up a phone to reserve a room distract you. The service, quality, location, and rooms have to be the best in Port Angeles. Very close to a nice dinner at the Next Door Gastropub and great breakfast at New Day.

It was a dark and stormy night...

A violent winter storm had shut down all roads, ferries and bridges to Seattle, forcing our bus to return to town. Fortunately the woman across the aisle had heard of this great little hotel near the bus stop (and ferry). We made our way through driving rain to the unassuming entrance off the street, then up the stairs to the lobby. It was as if we had stepped back in time a hundred years, to a quieter and more elegant time. No hard-edged glitz, no chrome and plastic here, just comfort and welcome. Getting the last two rooms, we learned that we would be sharing bathroom facilities with other patrons, but the four very clean private baths were right outside our rooms, and we never had to wait. Other rooms, already booked, have their own bathrooms. Our rooms were nicely decorated and cozy, the bed very comfortable, and it was blissfully quiet. Overall, the experience is akin to traveling by train: old style charm and the romance of a bygone era. Highly recommended. I can't wait to stay here in the future.
