We stayed at one-bedroom villa with private pool at the back of the property, for more than one month. That's the best living experience we ever ever had on the island! Villa is lovely and beautiful, very green with trees and flowers. You can climb and get fresh papaya just from the tree :) Everything is made with love and with a lot of attention to details: furniture, towels, kitchen tools, music system, live water streams, fish pond, free fast internet, everything. We travel to Bali every year and stayed in many different villas before, but only Palmae felt like a home!
There is security guys in front of the properties, and safety box in the bedroom, big enough to fit macbook. We felt very safe and never worried about our belongings :)
Location and neighborhood are nice too: few minutes through the rice field shortcut and you are at Canggu Deli or Canggu Club, few more minutes and you are at Berawa beach.
Shinta (owner), Wayan and Pamin (stuff) are one of the best people we ever met. Super friendly, helpful and just nice. They made our stay 100% comfortable. Thanks a lot, we are definitely coming back!

Hi. I don't want to write bad things about anyone so I'd just like to give an honest view of our experience to help others make their own choice easier. Sorry if its a bit long. :)
After seeing beautiful photos and reading lovely reviews on the internet we booked this property 6 months in advance through bookings.com for what we thought would be $400au for a week. Other booking sites were around the same price. Amazing deal we thought. We were very excited and showed all our friends the photos. We also requested airport transfers both ways as it was our first visit to bali.
We arrived at airport last sunday but their was no transfer waiting. After waiting a long time we ended up just getting a taxi to property.
We arrived at "palmae villas" which is located on a bend, so there was lots of cycles tooting horns continously. We were shown to a bedroom which appeared in the photos. It did look beautiful if not a bit small in reality. There was also no bath only a shower. Although a little dissapointed we thought this would be ok since there was a rooftop spa, and plenty of room with the beautiful pool, and outside kitchen dining and lounge to use anyway.
This is where it went wrong for us.... When we asked to be shown these areas as per photos we were informed that only the spa upstairs we could use/share with another couple there. The Other areas of living, dining, pool, etc belonged to the "Villa" and would cost $295au per NIGHT... Of course this was not in our budget so we couldn't stay.
Please note on all booking sites we looked at, there is no seperate facility to book a 'villa' for use instead of a 'room'.
After a bit of stress trying to work out the situation with the owner over the phone to no avail, we then spoke to the property/bookings manager who i previously spoke to 3 weeks prior to confirm all was ok.
Anyway after discussions she came and got us and showed us to a different place in cangu for $525au for the week. Although not a private villa it did have a beautiful pool that was shared with about 10 other rooms. Amazing quiet beach views and access to a little healthy yoga/cafe retreat across the road and lovely staff.
So my advise to travellers is to physically speak to the owner and ask what you are getting for your money and if it will suit your needs. Will it be a private villa with everything as shown in photos or just the room. And have back up funds just in case it still doesn't go as planned.
Good luck and have a lovely holiday. Jennie
