Overview
by Phil Corless
Otter’s Cove B&B sits right on the water in a quiet neighborhood north of Sitka. One of its three spacious suites is ideal for a family of four or five. The Whale Room, as it’s called, features a king bed along with double/twin bunk beds. It also has a prime view of Mount Edgecumbe, the dormant volcano that lies across the Sitka Sound. All rooms are separate from the main residence and have private entrances. There’s a full kitchen, where you’ll enjoy a free breakfast each morning, and a comfy living room to share with other guests. One of the nicest features of this B&B is the oceanside backyard, where you’ll find a hot tub, BBQ grill and fire pit. It’s a great place to hang out in the evening to unwind and watch the sunset.
Otter’s Cove is located 4 miles from the airport and the rest of downtown. It’s an easy drive to a wide variety of shops and restaurants. Family-friendly attractions, such as the Alaska Raptor Center and the Sitka National Historic Park are easy to find. A few miles further east of downtown is the popular Fortress of the Bear, an educational bear rescue center. Your B&B hosts are happy to recommend guided tours and other activities. With its oceanside location, quiet rooms, and family-friendly suite, Otter’s Cove B&B is a great choice for your Alaskan family vacation.
