For a strange reason, it’s hard to find a full-service hotel in the Berkshires that’s not also a chain. The exception is The Orchards, a lovely, large hotel framed by the mountains of Williamstown that is one of the top lodgings in the region. Rooms are tastefully decorated with four-poster beds and country fabrics, done in a modern style that presents a refreshing contrast from all of the country-cute inns and B&Bs in these parts. The hotel also features an outdoor pool as well as HD televisions in the rooms, and a highly acclaimed restaurant on the premises.

Beautiful location to escape for the weekend. The fireplace in the lobby greets you with immediate warmth as you begin your stay. The rooms were large and clean. The 4 post king bed was exceptional. So comfortable! Pillows were plentiful. . Highly recommend!

Spent one night here before we launched to go north to peep at leaves. Friendly staff. All the rooms have engraved brass plates on the doors with names of people named Williams. We stayed in the Billy Dee Williams room. The Esther Williams room was down the hall. Saw several Williams I had never heard of.
