Overview
by Lissa Poirot
A typical high-rise hotel offering convenience with its central location between Dallas, Ft. Worth and its airport, the Omni Mandalay is a comfortable option when visiting the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Although not located within walking distance of any attractions, and even, surprisingly, not located near a variety of dining options, what makes it stand out among the numerous hotels in the vicinity is its Omni Sensational Kids program and kids’ suites. While mom and dad enjoy the spaciousness of their own suite with sitting area, desk, breakfast table and king-sized bed, kids in connecting rooms can enjoy a brightly colored room with twin beds, denim couch, bean bag chairs, art table, books, toys and TV. Upon check-in, kids also receive a backpack filled with books, games and candy. The hotel concierge will even put together a list of kid-friendly attractions in the area. It’s these little touches that make a stay at the Omni worth it.

Very nice hotel, friendly staff, and good location. The hotel is right on the river walk, so that was pretty cool. Good restaurants within walking distance and shops, as well. The meeting rooms were good and the food was OK. I asked for a wake up call three nights in a row, but no luck. I'm glad I rely on my cell phone.

The service and facility are top notch! Unfortunately the room was not entirely clean when I checked in. Even after I shared my concern to room remained dirty :( looks like housekeeping has some work to do to catch up with the rest of the hotel staff.
Family Activities
The Omni Mandalay is best suited for a place to rest weary heads after sightseeing in Dallas and Fort Worth. However, they are great at providing a little R&R with its pool, playground and biking amenities.
Located lakeside and adjoining the fitness center, the heated swimming pool welcomes kids alongside the business visitors who may swim laps on the other side of the pool. Beside the pool is a small children's playground. A jogging and biking trail runs around the lake, and the hotel provides bicycle rentals.
Family Dining
Trevi's
The hotel's signature restaurant is located on the ground floor and overlooking the man-made lake on which the Omni sits. Renowned in the neighborhood for being one of the best Italian restaurants, Trevi serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily and welcomes kids to enjoy its pastas and Italian treats.
Morsel's
Located on the lobby level, this coffee and sundry shop serves Starbucks beverages and homemade baked goods and treats beginning at 6:30 a.m.
In-room Dining
The best way to serve up kid-friendly fare is to have it delivered to your room, where you can gather around the dining table, or let the kids eat in their own suite. Breakfast, lunch and dinner include the favorites: buttermilk pancakes, grilled cheese, spaghetti and meatballs and burgers.
Planning & Tips
All about the Extras
Upon arrival, kids are greeted with a backpack filled with a mini flashlight, an activity book, a toy and candy. The backpack also includes a canteen that can be used at the hotel restaurants to fill with beverages, at no additional charge. During the first night, milk and cookies are delivered to the kids, as well.
Moms and dads receive a safety and first aid kit with nightlights, outlet covers, and a list of local emergency numbers.
High-speed Internet is available for a minimal fee. (If you sign up for the free Omni Rewards program, the Internet fee is waived.)
For Mom & Dad
MBar
Not for the kids, but if mom and dad want to slip away to this bar tucked away from the main lobby, the Mbar provides a relaxing place to catch a game, play pool or just sip on some cocktails.
The Art of Smart Timing
Texas in the summer can find temperatures climbing into the triple-digits. However, the rest of the year brings more subdued weather, perfect for checking out the sights in Dallas and Fort Worth. With the area bustling with both business and vacation travel, and the wide variety of hotels in between the two cities, deals can be found throughout the year.
Getting There
The Omni is located within 10 minutes of the Dallas-Fort Worth airport. While located off the highway, it's in a secluded lakeside hotel area that is quiet and relaxing. The location remains a straight shot into both cities, and as a centrally located hotel, arriving in Dallas or Fort Worth will take about 15 minutes each.
