Vail Resorts, which operates nine luxury mountain resorts, is adding a new urban ski resort to its operations. Recently acquiring Wilmot Mountain, just 65 miles north of Chicago, Vail Resorts continues its expansion into the Midwest.
Wilma Mountain has long serviced Chicago and Milwaukee, operating for the last 75 years under the Stopa family. Vail Resorts will enhance the base and mountain experience with redesigned and updated terrain parks, ski instruction, more dining and entertainment options, racing programs, and integrated technology.
Wilmot will also be added to Vail Resorts’ Epic Pass and Epic Local Pass for the 2016-17 ski season, providing snow lovers a chance to experience the company’s other mountain resorts in Colorado, Lake Tahoe and Utah, for example.
