Universal Orlando announced yesterday it will permanently close its Wet ‘n Wild water park next year.
The 50-acre Wet ‘n Wild water park, which has been operating in Orlando for 38 years, will shut its doors permanently Dec. 31, 2016. The park first opened in 1977 on International Drive, and has been owned and operated by Universal Orlando since 1998. While the closure will be the end of one era, it comes as the beginning of another, as Universal will open its new and larger themed water park, Volcano Bay, in 2017.
