Amtrak is offering a new Pets Ride Free promotion in conjunction with a partnership with Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. The special promotion provides free rides for trips booked December 6 through 11, 2016, for travel December 9, 2016, through March 31, 2017.
The partnership with Universal Pictures comes as a promotion of the company’s new home release of the film, “The Secret Life of Pets.” With more than 15,000 dogs and cats traveling by train on Amtrak in the past, the new offer is available at 40 Amtrak markets, including New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, New Orleans, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, D.C., and more.
To travel with a small dog or cat up to 20 pounds, tickets must be purchased at least three days prior to travel and are valid for up to March 31, 2017. Pets must travel in a pet carrier and the weight of the pet and the carrier combine must not exceed 20 pounds. To make a pet reservation, call 800-USA-RAIL.
