In 2018, a new terminal will debut at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, allowing the airport to service more flights. The $829-million project will be 650,000-square-foot complex.
The new terminal will include two concourses, 30 gates, a 2,000-car parking garage and more ground transportation space. The new terminal will also include a $17-million onsite hotel and its own $72 million power plant. A new flyover from I-10 will also be constructed, at a tune of $87 million, to improve transportation to the airport and help eliminate traffic.
The existing airport terminals will transform into cargo, corporate and noncommercial flight space.
The terminal is scheduled to be complete by May 2018, which coincides with New Orleans’ 300th anniversary.
