Converting an old brewery in the heart of San Antonio into a modern boutique hotel has turned out to be a winning concept for the new Hotel Emma. The original building, built in 1894, was home to Pearl’s Brewhouse, which was largely run by Emma Koehler, for whom the hotel is named. Opening in mid-November, 2015, the new hotel has been raking up accolades from around the world.
Serving as a boutique property, the 146-room hotel features seven floors and is located on the banks of the San Antonio River. Rooms and suites feature unique touches like claw foot tubs, private terraces, and floor-to-ceiling windows in a decor that harkens back to the buildings early days, capitalizing on the original stone and woodwork. One-bedroom suites with living rooms and sleeper sofas are found on one or two stories, with some providing dining rooms and fireplaces.
Dining is the main focus at Hotel Emma, with choices including Supper American Eatery, Larder, and Sternewirth lounge. A rooftop swimming pool provides views of San Antonio, and families can borrow Electra cruiser bikes for free during their stay. Other amenities include a fitness center, library, house cars, and in-room Ice Box and In-Room Pantry providing South Texas items.
The San Antonio hotel is fully operational and accepting reservations.
