A festival established to encourage families to spend time together may be coming to a city near you. The Lantern Fest, which launched last year, will send white and gold Chinese lanterns filled with hopes and dreams into the sky this spring and fall.
The Lantern Fest will kick off in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on April 25, with live music, dancing, S’mores and family-friendly activities. When the time is right, 100 percent biodegradable lanterns will be released into the sky.
The Lantern Fest can be found in North Carolina, Kansas, Washington and Oklahoma in May before a summer break. The festival returns in September to Ohio, then moves into Michigan, Nevada and Oregon in October. Idaho and Montana will also appear in the schedule, at dates to be determined. Children 15 years and younger are free of charge. Advanced registry is recommended, as tickets may sell out.
