Even if celebrating the holidays in the desert hill country of San Antonio, families can get into the spirit of Christmas with JW Marriott’s new Elf Express and holiday-themed amenities.
JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa will launch the holiday season with a special “Light up the Night” illumination party on Saturday. Nov. 19. The festivities include the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus to flip the switch to the resort’s annual light show and tree lighting. The nightly show will run through Dec. 31, creating a winter wonderland with lights and sounds that play for 10 minutes every 20 minutes from 6 to 10 p.m.
On Saturdays through Dec. 24, festivities for children are featured throughout the day. Children are invited to decorate pre-made cardboard JW Elf Express train cars, as well as enjoy cookie making, ornament making, and holiday sing-alongs. The Sandy Snowman Building Contest, which brings snow to Hill Country, offers a chance to build a snowman at the River Bend sandy beach area every Saturday morning, before joining the resort’s Candy Cane sommelier on Saturday afternoons, where kids can customize candy canes and decorate gingerbread cookies. Guests are also invited to breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus every Saturday morning at 18 Oaks resort restaurant.
