Hotels Tighten Cancellation Policies

Hyatt Hotels recently announced it would offer free W-Fi at all properties. Before that, Marriott International and Starwood Hotels and Resorts did the same thing (for rewards members). With the new perks, however, come some other, not-so-welcome changes.

As of Jan. 1, 2015, Marriott and Hilton have changed their cancellation policies, requiring that cancellations be made by midnight on the day prior to arrival (guests used to be able to cancel up until the evening of their stay). If the cancellation isn’t made in accordance with the new rule, guests will be charged for a one night’s stay.
