A $3 billion train project could connect Miami and Orlando in an express inter-city train service as early as 2017. The privately owned train would provide service along 235 miles, connecting Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Orlando.
All Aboard Florida’s Brightline train project would include train stations within the four connected cities, and provide transportation between Miami and Orlando in three hours. Currently, travel time by car can take up to six hours, and although flight times are quicker, the time spent to maneuver security and lines at the airport could make the train the fastest connection between the cities.
The project is touted to be complete by mid-2017.
