Disney has obtained a patent to create a system that will allow its amusement parks to begin tracking guests through their shoes using a camera-wielding robot.
The goal is to get an idea of the most popular rides and the most common routes taken throughout the various parks.
Plans have not been made yet to utilize the robot in its parks. Spokeswoman Suzi Brown told The Los Angeles Times that “we file many patents annually – some come to fruition and others do not,” according to Fortune.
Other means of gathering data were considered, including retinal and fingerprinting, but were decided to be too invasive.
