Coney Island’s Luna Park is opening a new Thunderbolt roller coaster this year, replacing the iconic roller coaster that had been closed and rotting for decades, fully demolished in 2000. Now a proposal is in place to convert the site into a new water park.
The proposed water park would feature water slides and a beachfront location stretching from the Coney Island Boardwalk to Surf Avenue. This is the second time a water park has been proposed for the site.
