After much turmoil between original developers, bankrupcy and legal woes, the $4.2-million integrated resort development of Baha Mar on the island of Nassau has finally opened. Following a ribbon cutting and five days of celebrations, the resort provided a preview to its first phase, which included the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar; the Baha Mar Casino; the Baha Mar Convention, Art and Entertainment Center; the Royal Blue Golf Clubl Peter Burwash International tennis courts; and numerous restaurants, an extensive pool and beach, and choreographed fountain shows with light and music.

For guests staying at Baha Mar, the Grand Hyatt features two towers with 1,800 rooms, including 230 one- to three-bedroom suites. The hotel features five resort pools with cabanas, and will offer 20 different bars and restaurants as it connects to the new casino. The first restaurants to open include the seafood Three Tides restaurant, a British gastropub called the Swimming Pig, the Pan-Latin Drift restaurant, the beachside Palms, the Conch Shack, Stix Noodle Bar, and Blue Note live jazz bar.

Retail at Baha Mar includes luxury outlets for Rolex, Bulgari and more to come, and guests can be pampered at the 30,000-foot flagship ESPA spa, the first location in the Caribbean. The Royal Blue Golf Club, designed by Jack Nicklaus Signature courses, provides two 9-hole courses in one.

Phase II and Phase III will complete in fall 2017 and spring 2018, respectively, with the expanded Rosewood Baha Mar opening in 2018 for more luxurious accommodation options to bring the total to 2,300 choices and 40 restaurants and lounges.

The Nassau property is located in New Providence.
