New York’s Catskills Mountains may grow to include a massive casino resort if a new proposal is approved by the state. Last week, Empire Resorts and EPR Properties submitted a proposal for a $750 million casino resort, of which the companies say they have already have most of the approved permits to begin.
The new resort will reside at the site of the former Concord Resort, which consists of 1,700 acres of land outside of Monticello. Developers’ plans showcase a family-friendly property, complete with indoor water park and pool; outdoor adventure park with zip lines, mountain coaster and snow tubing; spa; Rees Jones-designed golf course; as well as a casino. The plans also highlight family lodge-style accommodations in 350 rooms.
The resort will be named Adelaar, which means “eagle” in Dutch, and will be an all-season resort, catering to the ski crowds in the winter and the warm-weather outdoor enthusiasts the remainder of the year.
