A 50,000-square-foot children’s wonderland has opened in Bentonville in Northwest Arkansas, home to Walmart and Tyson Foods. The Scott Family Amazeum cost $21.5 million to build and is a hybrid between a children’s museum and science center focusing on science, technology, engineering, mathematics, culture, social studies and language.
Exhibits include Hershey’s Lab, inspired by the Chocolate Lab at the Hershey Story in Pennsylvania, and the only lab outside of Hershey. A Nickelodeon Gallery provides a place for kids to play with their favorite characters, including SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer, while the 3M Tinkering Hub allows kids to explore materials, create works of art and investigate technology.
Other exhibits include a mock neighborhood market sponsored by Walmart, a water play center, an indoor climbable tree canopy, a pioneer-style cabin and farm, a child-scaled distribution center sponsored by General Mills, and an outside acre for outdoor learning and exploring.
