Myrtle Beach, named among Family Vacation Critic’s “10 Best Beaches for Families in 2014,” has another reason to visit the area: Crown Reef Resort’s brand new oceanfront water park.

The $2-million project touts the world’s first “Explosion” slide, which pumps more than 2,500 gallons of water per minute and combines two four-story chutes. Riders bump and glide through left-to-right and 360-degree turns as enclosed fiberglass expands to vary speeds.

Other water park fun include a separate kids’ water slide, spray-ground and sun deck.

Crown Reef Resort also features recently updated accommodations, including suites with kitchens and brand new appliances, along with Myrtle Beach’s longest lazy river.

The hotel regularly offers deals, including a Wet and Wild Family Fun Package, which includes a 40-percent discount on rates, breakfast for two adults and two children, game vouchers and more.
