The Marriott at Brooklyn Bridge offers something different in its Brooklyn location, its size and its amenities. There are 665 spacious rooms and suites, many with views of downtown Brooklyn or the Manhattan skyline. Suites, available in six different configurations, sleep up to six. You can spend your free time walking across the Brooklyn Bridge, or swimming in the indoor pool -- a rarity for city hotels. Getting into Manhattan is as easy as walking to the subway station across the street.

There are several locations of this Marriott brand in New York City, including Times Square and Central Park. They all share similar attributesâ€â€including stocked kitchenettesâ€â€at a “value†price point. But the Residence Inn New York Manhattan/Midtown East near Grand Central Station and the Chrysler Building gets the highest ranking, earning raves for the staff and service, free breakfast, and the availability of outdoor terraces in some rooms. Your best bet is a one-bedroom suite, with two queen beds and a sofa bed.

Hotel Beacon in the Upper West Side gets high marks for its quiet neighborhood and the spacious, clean rooms. Each of the 260 guestrooms has a fully equipped kitchenette, and there"s a supermarket right across the street. All the one- and two-bedroom suites have a living room with a sofa bed separate from the bedroom. Cribs and rollaway beds are available, as well, to accommodate everyone in your family. The location is convenient to public transportation, Lincoln Center, the American Museum of Natural History and Central Park.

All of the 181 guestrooms at this Midtown hotel have spacious bathrooms and mini-fridges. Up to one child (12 or under) can stay in a Double Double or Family Room with a parent at no charge. Great complimentary extras at Hotel Metro include a continental breakfast and coffee all day, a wine and cheese evening reception, and Wi-Fi. This is an ideal home-base hotel for city exploration, close to subways and Penn Station, as well as the Empire State Building and Macy"s.

The Kimberly
The Kimberly is a luxury boutique hotel in Midtown, and one that"s worth the splurge considering it"s one of the few in New York City with private terraces in most of the rooms. Although the bathrooms are considered small, the roomy one- and two-bedroom suites have a separate living room with a pull-out, queen-size sofa bed, with room for a crib or rollaway. There"s also a dining area and kitchenette equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, coffeemaker, sink and utensils. The east side location puts you close to Rockefeller Center, Central Park and Radio City Music Hall.

This Midtown Manhattan property is just 3 blocks from Penn Station, making it walkable to a number of popular neighborhoods and attractions like the Empire State Building. In the context of New York City standards, guests rave about the spacious rooms at Avalon, as well as the large bathrooms. While the studio suite and superior rooms probably won"t work for a family of five, the Deluxe room type, ranging from 310- to 525-square-feet, will.

For a really large family, this is your best bet. The TRYP has some of the largest rooms in New York City -- up to 455 square feet in size! The Family Room at this hotel can sleep up to eight, with two queen beds, two bunk beds and a sofa bed. Premium rooms have two bathrooms and dividable spaces. Located next to a police station near Penn Station, this Wyndham property features Mediterranean design, and serves a full European buffet breakfast.
