Had a reservation booked for 10/5/2019, or so I thought. Arrived on 10/5 and was told I was not on the reservation list. After some searching and printing out a new list, the lady at the front desk still seemed unsure of something but we were given keys to our room. As I was parking the car, my wife texted me to inform me that upon entering the room, she saw it was already occupied! Went back to the front desk and was told my reservation had actually been made for 9/5/2019 and that I had been marked as a no show at that time. I had made the reservation many months in advance and I couldn't pull up my confirmation email right there so I figured maybe it was was my error. They had nothing else available, and the only other room in town was a much more expensive one at Hotel Columbia, which I took because I had no other choice. That night I was able to pull up my original reservation confirmation and it had indeed been confirmed for the correct 10/5 date. Expecting a fight, I returned to Mountainside the next morning. The young man at the desk was extremely polite and apologetic, and told me someone would contact me later that morning. End of story, Mountainside paid for my $400 room at Columbia. I didn't even have to ask. This is a great example of superior customer service, and doing what is necessary to make things right. I will book Mountainside again the next time we're in town as a result of this. Not five stars only because I still don't understand how were given the keys to an occupied room, especially if my reservation wasn't showing.

This hotel required full payment with no refunds at the time of my reservation. I regret not staying in Mountain Village where there are similarly priced places with larger rooms and a view! Every room faces a parking lot or busy driveway. The cars are 6 feet or less from the windows. We got the driveway to the multimillion dollar condos. The condo manager conducted business with his windows open and we heard every word of his concerns about his job. Other owners conduct business from their balconies. You will hear that too! The no view by the condo was claustrophobic in the tiny room. The table was 5 inches from the uncomfortable bed. Pay a little more or the same in Mountain Village. The free Gondola makes it easy to see Telluride and hike in the non ski season. It is clear you aren’t welcome in Telluride anyway unless you have millions. No sour grapes here. This is just a fact that I have heard each time that I have been to Telluride. This time as a I jumped off the curb as a local took up the entire sidewalk-as I jumped off to avoid a collision I had to admit these people are self entitled to greatness. How do I know they are a local? They will let you know! The people are unfriendly and make it clear that you are in their way if you aren’t one of them. Sorry to say. The town created an exclusive town; and now lament their hourly workers can’t afford to live there. Never fear a local lady was featured in a magazine in her pricy second home with a Non profit to help these people find affordable housing to work her businesses. Maybe pay them a wage in line with the economy of the town? Really rubbed me the wrong way, and I am no social activist. BIT was a favorite. I visited twice. The employees conversed in Spanish for 30 seconds as I waited to order. She took our money without a word of instruction as to were to obtain the Latte. As my husband and I discussed wanting a slice of pizza rather than an entire pizza. The employee never let us know that slices were available. If you look outside shoved to the side there is a chalkboard that lets you know. Pastries lack sweetness like Mexican desserts. There is a Mexican food place on Main that had exceptional customer service and pretty good food. He ran the front of the house with perfection alone! Telluride has an exceptional view with little soul. Mountain Village has a much better vibe. The surrounding towns are all just exceptional. I regret staying two nights at this location. The ladies at the front desk are professional and polite. Unfortunately, that is about it.
