Halfway between Miami and Key West, 18 cottages sit on this 18-acre resort that used to be a coconut plantation. The one- to three- bedroom cottages have fully equipped kitchens, wireless Internet access, and are only steps from the beach. Adirondack chairs and hammocks throughout the property will have parents relaxing while the kids can play in the heated, lap pool, tennis courts or use the stand-up paddleboards, kayaks or bicycles onsite.

First of all- the one star reviews for this place are a joke. They seem to be complaints by trespassers on private property. I’m glad the Moorings keeps people who aren’t guests off the property. There were a few who trespassed while we were there, and they were thankfully asked to leave quickly and politely.
The property itself is unlike anything I’ve ever seen, and pictures absolutely do not do it justice. The landscaping is beautiful, as are the cottages, and while it was completely booked, you feel as though there are only a few others onsite. The beach is spacious with hammocks, kayaks, and paddle boards for guests to use.
If you need to recharge, relax, and get away in beautiful accommodations, this is the place for you. There are wonderful restaurants nearby, and the staff were amazing without being intrusive. The guest experience from check in to check out makes you feel like you are at home.
I can’t wait to go back!

We came for our wedding anniversary and had a lovely long weekend. We live in Miami and have been to the Keys several times, and the Moorings has been on my bucket list for years! We were finally able to come to celebrate our anniversary. The beach is beautiful and secluded and it is absolutely paradise. We loved how our villa was totally prepared with kitchen utensils, ice, and towels. Also, the air conditioning is very good! And customer service is great. We like to work out and the gym has cardio machines and weights (see photo). It is too bad that the spa closed permanently after Hurricane Irma but there are other spas nearby. While there are no food or beverage offerings at the hotel, it is walking distance from several excellent dining options. If you’re looking to escape for a few days, this is perfect!
