Merry Acres Inn is a motel (not an inn) built in the 1950s in Albany. While there have been periodic attempts to update the property, the guestrooms are dated and are inferior to what one would expect for the room rates.
Specifically, the bathrooms are small, dark, and could use a thorough cleaning. The door to our room was old, with chipped wood and chipped paint. The furnishings are dated and tired. Merry Acres can no
longer compete with newer chain properties like Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express, located just down the road.
Positives: common areas (pool, bar, office) are well maintained and pleasant. The staff was pleasant and helpful.
Given the history of Merry Acres, I sincerely hope that the owners will soon engage in a thorough updating of the property, especially the guestrooms and baths. For $150/night, guests have a right to a modern, clean and comfortable room.

That motel was clearly built in the 50s. But the property is well-maintained and unique. Bathroom was dated but Air-conditioner worked well, bed was comfortable.
The main house contains administration offices and a quaint pub. They offer one free drink when you stay and give a free breakfast the next morning. There’s a gym next-door and the time I was there they had live music on the balcony of the Bar. I would stay again if I was in the area.
