At this fun, unique hotel, your kids will enjoy “school” like never before! The hotel is a renovated elementary school that still retains much of its former character thanks to the charming theme: the guestrooms are old classrooms, the old auditorium is a movie theater, and if parents can steal some time to themselves, they can head to the Detention Bar for drinks and cigars. Plus, you’ve never swum in a pool quite as awesome as the Kennedy Soaking Pool: a ceramic work of art in the beautiful garden-filled courtyard.
The Courtyard Restaurant features Northwest-style pub food; it’s open all day and includes a kids’ menu. There are several bars around the property as well — some are adults only but others are minor-friendly and serve food. All rooms have only king beds, so it’s clear that the “school” is designed to appeal more to adults, but with cots, cribs, or multiple rooms, you can make it work if you don’t want to wait for an empty-nest trip. Children under six stay free.
