Overview

The MacDonald Windsor Hotel is a plush luxury hotel designed by award-winning Amanda Rosa. The style of the 120 rooms is elegant comfortable chic with large beds, fluffy pillows and richly colored furnishings. The hotel describes itself as charmingly British in its Georgian building and it sits opposite Windsor Castle, where guests can watch the Changing of the Guards from some of the rooms.

Inside the rooms there are en-suite luxury bathrooms with monsoon showers, Bluetooth speakers, Egyptian cotton linen, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, a mini-bar and hot drink making facilities. Children under the age of 12 sharing a suitable room are able to stay for free with parents. There is a children’s breakfast available at the hotel restaurant, Caleys, a Scottish steakhouse.

I Love This Hotel - But our room was cold!

We have stayed at this hotel for many years and seen many changes unfortunately not all for the better! Cut backs are noticeable.

The staff are amazing especially Adam in the restaurant a total credit to the hotel. We stayed for 3 nights, Room 116 which is a lovely room with great views, unfortunately totally freezing, the towel rail in the shower room did not work and the shower head was totally scaled up and so the shower trickled water. We did mention this to a member of staff but nothing was done, so we froze for 3 nights.
But we love this hotel and hopefully will not totally put us off booking again.
They kindly arranged a bottle of bubbly for my birthday which was very much appreciated. The breakfast was lovely and our evening meal on the Saturday in the Restaurant was amazing! Credit to the chef! We can recommend 2 for 1 cocktails on the Friday evening the bar staff are superb! unfortunately they had run out of passion fruit puree so Hefner Martinis were not available and also no creme de Cassis for the champagne cocktails but hey Ho! no big deal!

Would like to mentioned 1 tiny bar of soap for 3 nights was a little mean, but thank you for the Elemis minis in the room.

All the staff need to be proud of their service and The MacDonald Hotel should be rewarding them for this.

Lets hope we come again.

Excellent Windsor Hotel

The Macdonald Windsor Hotel offers easy access to Windsor and all of its key attractions including Windsor Castle which is just a five minute walk away. We stayed in a room on the third floor which was well appointed and modern. We were impressed by the luxury extras that were present in our room including the Elemis toiletries, Nespresso coffee machine and heated towel rail. The room boasted a high standard of cleanliness and our room was cleaned during our stay.

During our two night stay we had a room service breakfast and breakfast in Caleys Brasserie. We preferred the Caleys breakfast as it offered a greater range of breakfast items to choose from.

We also had dinner at Caleys Brasserie on our final night in the hotel. We really enjoyed our dinner, fresh produce had been used and the chef had taken great care in preparing our food.

Overall we had a great stay at the Macdonald Windsor and we would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a hotel in the centre of Windsor. The only suggestion for improvement would be to provide a soap dish or liquid soap in the bathroom for guests.
