The Lancaster Hotel has the charm of a historic hotel and all the modern amenities guests would want. The history of the Lancaster Hotel dates to 1926 and the beginning of the Houston Theater District and has been a city landmark ever since. It is a Texas Historical Landmark and a member of the Historic Hotels of America. Rooms have high-speed Wi-Fi and mini-fridges. Coffeemakers, bottled water, 42-inch flat-screen TVs with cable and HBO are also provided in rooms. There is a gourmet continental breakfast buffet including cheeses, smoked salmon, house-made granola and cereals, yogurt and fruit. In the evening, there is a hosted wine hour. No need to drive as the luxury shuttle provides car service within a 3-mile radius downtown. Guests get passes to a nearby Houston fitness center. Rooms have either one king-size bed or two queens. There are suites but they are more about having a separate living space than more places to sleep. The Bistro Lancaster offers contemporary American cuisine and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Check-in time is 3 p.m.; check-out is noon.

The Lancaster Hotel is something very special. It is a perfect sized hotel, with the most wonderful staff and excellent service. Priced below other luxury hotels in downtown, it surpasses the competition. Despite its downtown location, the rooms are quiet and the decor is lovely. The food in the hotel is very well prepared with some interesting dishes, despite having a smaller menu than a larger hotel. Having stayed in luxury hotels around the world, I can honestly say that my stay at the Lancaster was amongst the most pleasant I've had in the United States. I highly recommend this hotel!

I stayed at the Lancaster last week and was made like a welcomed return guest, even though it was my first time staying with them. The breakfast buffet and the snack drawer are incredible perks to staying here. The 'gym' is a bit lack luster but an alternative option is offered, which I appreciated. Highly recommended and I would definitely stay here again.
