This beautiful lodge is on a remote lake about 40 miles from the town of Glennallen. The last mile of gravel road leading to the lodge is an adventure in itself, but well worth the effort once you see the lake come into view. It offers 13 luxurious rooms and five extremely rustic cabins on their property. Book the Bear Room in the lodge, which will give you a king bed and three twins, a private bath and a wonderful view of the lake. The owners cook a hearty homemade breakfast each morning for guests. The lodge has a full-service restaurant, so you can enjoy lunch and dinner there as well. Other amenities include free Wi-Fi, satellite TV and free use of the canoes.
Lake Louise is 16 miles off the Glenn Highway, which runs to Anchorage. It’s a prime fishing lake for freshwater trout. The lodge can help set you up with fishing equipment, as well as rental boats. There are hiking trails around the lake, including one that leads to an old WWII army recreation site. The lake is a great place to view wildlife, including caribou, moose and trumpeter swans.
