This beautiful lodge is on a remote lake about 40 miles from the town of Glennallen. The last mile of gravel road leading to the lodge is an adventure in itself, but well worth the effort once you see the lake come into view. It offers 13 luxurious rooms and five extremely rustic cabins on their property. Book the Bear Room in the lodge, which will give you a king bed and three twins, a private bath and a wonderful view of the lake. The owners cook a hearty homemade breakfast each morning for guests. The lodge has a full-service restaurant, so you can enjoy lunch and dinner there as well. Other amenities include free Wi-Fi, satellite TV and free use of the canoes.
Lake Louise is 16 miles off the Glenn Highway, which runs to Anchorage. It’s a prime fishing lake for freshwater trout. The lodge can help set you up with fishing equipment, as well as rental boats. There are hiking trails around the lake, including one that leads to an old WWII army recreation site. The lake is a great place to view wildlife, including caribou, moose and trumpeter swans. The town of Glennallen is an hour away, as is the entrance to the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, where you can find exciting outdoor opportunities like river rafting, salmon fishing and hiking through an old ghost town. For a taste of real wilderness, the Lake Louise Lodge is a great choice for a family vacation in Alaska.

This was such a wonderful find for us. Best people, so helpful and friendly. The restaurant/bar was amazing - food fantastic. Met great people. Room we stayed in was so cute and just loved it. Very clean, plenty of room and slept great. Beautiful view of the lake. Off the beaten path and we saw so many moose on the drive in. The drive in itself is absolutely beautiful also. A must stay. Well worth it!

“This is a great place. The lake view is huge and beautiful and the owners of the lodge also operate a boat dock for locals and visiting fisherman. The very nice and well-run restaurant also serves these folks who come in for dinner or a drink. This makes the place an interesting source of activity and people watching. Owner (Yvette) is very friendly and has interesting stories about the locale. Definitely recommended for folks passing through the Glenallen area and that have a few extra hours to linger and enjoy the area before moving on.”
