Bordering Chattanooga is the town of East Ridge that essentially sits at the top of Chattanooga. The La Quinta Inn & Suites in East Ridge assures every hotel perk without the sticker shock.
Standard guestrooms offer a king or two queens that come with a 39-inch flat-screen television, free Wi-Fi, a coffee maker, a mini-fridge, a microwave, and complimentary hot breakfast in the morning. Upgrade to a king or double-queen suite that also have a pullout sofa and an additional flat-screen. A small fitness room, an outdoor pool (seasonal), coin-laundry, and free parking make this hotel a fantastic value.
The property is 13.3-miles to Lookout Mountain (Incline Railway, the steepest passenger rail in the world; cave tour, underground waterfall at Ruby Falls), 8.4-miles to Chattanooga Choo Choo (shopping, museum, hotels), 10.3-miles to the Tennessee Aquarium (a don’t-miss), 11.5-miles to Coolidge Park (with large spray fountains), 10.6-miles to the glass bridge leading to the Hunter Museum of American Art.

Positives: The Asst. GM managed to get me checked in a couple of hours early and was very helpful, and I appreciate that.
Negatives: Breakfast is free. And that's what it's worth. The gravy one morning (apparently it's powdered eggs, mediocre sausage, and gravy every morning) was actually, I think, thinner than water. How is that even possible?
Negative 2: They have Direct TV. I don't know if it was the rainy and cold November weather or what, but the TV would regularly freeze up and say "searching" for a signal.
Negative 3: I appreciate a clean room, and it was. I also like several cups of coffee in the morning. I left a note to Housekeeping asking for "four regular coffees" (they have those little single-serve thingies) with $5. They left a single regular coffee--again--and took the $5.
Negative 4: I mentioned the continual problem with Direct TV to the two men behind the desk when I checked out. One sort of shrugged and said "I don't know" and he obviously could care less.
I have stayed here two or three times in the past for events across the street at Camp Jordan, but not again. There are a number of other hotels in the area, including Hampton Inn, Fairfield Inn & Suites, and Holiday Inn Express that all seem to have pretty good ratings.

We were travelling with two dogs who were welcomed. This hotel was set up ideally with a ground floor wing that seemed made for people with pets. Also, staff were very friendly and competent, arranging to forward a valuable jacket that I had left behind. Well dine La Quinta!
