With a pool, city views from the rooms and a great breakfast buffet with plenty of Western and Japanese offerings, this downtown Kyoto restaurant is a good base for exploring. An underground shopping and dining complex beneath the hotel offers lots of options within easy reach of your room after a long day at the tourist sites.

We had a two night stay in the Okura during our visit to RWC 2019. The hotel is central to visit all the attractions in Kyoto. A 4 star hotel in every sense, the rooms are well appointed and have all the necessary facilities. Breakfast is the usual buffet affair in the restaurant on the top floor giving great views of the city. Western and Japanese food available for breakfast. We didn`t dine in the hotel on this occasion, but others in our party did and said it was very good but expensive, this is the norm in Japanese hotels. We did use the bar in the hotel and again as is the norm in Japan drinks were expensive but a lovely setting. A great hotel to use as a base to visit Kyoto.

We enjoyed a 4 night stay at the Kyoto Hotel Okura. This hotel understands what customer service is all about. Every detail is handled with impeccable attention to detail and ensuring that you are happy with the outcome.
The rooms are quite basic. We had a corner suite with views on 2 sides which was very nice. As a North American we are used to higher ceilings so it felt a little closed in (if you are tall you may hit the ceiling. Loved all the little touches in the room! Truly a gem of a hotel!
It is pricey but based on the service it was worth it!
The location was fantastic and central to get around and walk.
