Beer is H2O with a hint of beer flavour, staff at reception are exceptionally rude whenever you have a question or a query. Kids food selection (all inclusive) was good for the first few days and then it became spring rolls, vegetables and things children wouldn't generally eat, my three year old was living on pasta for 10 days bless her so the kids section definitely needs to be looked at in the restaurant. Towards the end of the holiday, fresh bread rolls weren't offered so if you're a fussy eater, you'll be okay with pasta and chips for 10 nights. Expensive trips into chania offered through the hotel although if you walk to the shop at the top of the road and purchase bus tickets (return) it's 10 euro return for two adults inclusive. Cleaners were fab and they couldn't be faulted, along with the restaurant staff- always happy and chatty. It's sad that they all get paid so little. General manager had a fight (resulted in a broken nose and two black eyes) whilst we stayed as he had underpaid one of his security staff, walked around like his you know what didn't stink up until then. Didn't look good on the hotel, weather was fab although the last two days were pouring rain and although the resort is great for outdoor pools and entertainment, you find the kids get bored as there isn't enough to do inside and there's nothing close by to the hotel to walk to. Booked in a free 15 minute massage and then as the weather was on the change we decided to pop to chania for the day, we let the staff know at 7am to cancel the massages even though they weren't due to take place until 1pm. When we went to the spa to re-book we were told no we couldn't have one and we would have to pay for a 45 minute massage. I think that was pretty bad considering they had plenty of notice and considering how much you pay to stay on the resort. Archers is not included in all inclusive prices nor are the cocktails even though it states that they are. I wouldn't personally go back and I'm not one to write reviews normally but it's put me off going to Crete at all. The best part of the trip was going to Elafonisi for the day. I had two little ones to cater for and kalives has nothing to offer families at all. You are literally stuck on the resort, the indoor pool isn't heated either so on colder days it is freezing for the little ones.

We had a lovely honey (family) moon here 2 weeks ago. Our 2 boys really enjoyed themselves and so did we. Lovely hotel and beach. Pools are great but were too cold for us in October but the sea was lovely. Easy to hire a car and explore the island. Good kids entertainment, lovely food and drinks. No complaints at all so would def recommend. We have a superior maisonette so the space was perfect. Bonus we had 2 balconies as well !!
