Overview
by Phil Corless
This small, affordable hotel sits right outside the entrance to the Kenai Airport, making it an extremely convenient option if you’re flying in and out of town. Beyond that, the newly remodeled rooms are clean and comfortable. The two-queen bed Family Room has enough space for a crib or rollaway. A continental breakfast is served in the lobby each morning, complete with cereal, pastries, fruit, yogurt and toast. Other amenities include refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker and free Wi-Fi. Kids will love the free snacks in the lobby, with goodies like granola bars, cookies, hot cocoa and juice available to guests throughout the day.
The Kenai Airport Hotel is surprisingly quiet, considering its location across the street from the airport. Two blocks away is a shopping center with a variety of fine dining and fast food restaurants, as well as several grocery stores. Five minutes away by car is the Kenai Beach, where the river meets the sea. Kids will love beachcombing for shells and agates or tossing a line into the surf to see what they can catch. Mount Redoubt, one of Alaska’s most active volcanoes, is visible across the water. Reputable fishing charters are plentiful in Kenai, as are whale watching tours and other guided trips. Drive 10 miles to the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge visitors center in Soldotna to find out the best ways to access that amazing resource. With its affordable rates and convenient airport location, the Kenai Airport Hotel is a great choice for your family vacation in Kenai.
