My daughter and I drove from Washington DC for her 9th birthday celebration. “Favorite Birthday Ever!” just about sums it up.
Even though it was booked the weekend before and the following weekend, we lucked out and mostly had the place to ourselves. Dave and family were genuinely welcoming and my daughter got to help with farm chores. She is a horse lover and the two rides a day were heavenly. She even got to ride a Tennessee Walker. The horses are beautiful and well cared for. Part of the riding experience was learning to groom and saddle, and a highlight was the training demonstration in the round pen.
The food was delicious and sitting down with the family for meals felt more like Thanksgiving dinner than perfunctory mess hall dining elsewhere. The evenings were filled with games of pool, movies in the lower level theater and endless rounds of foosball in the game room.
Our cabin was spacious, sparkling clean with a loft for my daughter, full kitchen and tasteful decor.
Our visit was a tradition in the making!
