Overview

One of the Hills’ newest lodges (built in 2006) has lovely balcony views of Washington and Jefferson’s profiles on Mount Rushmore. The spacious lobby makes a good gathering place and nicely frames that view, too. The 96-room lodge sits five minutes from Mount Rushmore and even closer to the touristy hubbub of downtown Keystone. Kids can find all the cheap souvenirs, ice cream and fudge they want in downtown, but the lodge is fortunately tucked away on a side road up on a hill. It feels more kickback than hustle-bustle.

Rooms are nice, stayed over Columbus Day Weekend and met a number of family members. The hotel employees were great. Breakfast was one of the best ever. Beautiful area and can even see Mt. Rushmore. Sitting in the Black Hills is not too bad either.

Best hotel/lodge of our 2019 road trip. Located in a beautiful secluded glen just off of Main Street, all rooms with a balcony have a view of Mt. Rushmore. Our first night saw a about an inch of snow, not enough to hamper our plans. Rooms are larger than average. Clean with comfortable beds and close to all attractions. We'll be back next year during the main season.
