Overview
by Wendy Irvine
As you drive into the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta, you’ll be greeted by high-end restaurants and towering buildings and hotels. Pull up to the JW Marriott Atlanta Buckhead and you can’t help but smile, because you’ll be staying in one of those soaring beauties. With its own private entrance from the property’s lobby to the enormous Lenox Square Mall, a phenomenal indoor pool for the kids, and a breezy drive (or walk) to the LEGOLAND Discovery Center, a stay at the JW Marriott Atlanta Buckhead delivers a great vacation for every family member.
Back in 2011, the JW Marriott was the proud recipient of a stunning makeover. Twelve-million dollars later, the lobby, all 371 opulent guestrooms, the fitness center, and the Executive Lounge sport a glamourous vibe ideal for a little family “chillax” time.

Room Information
Find the Best Price for Your Stay
The JW Marriott offers a total of 371 sumptuous guestrooms and suites, designed in an elegant, yet comfy style featuring a shimmering golden décor with espresso-colored furniture.
Every beautiful room boasts terry cloth robes, a rain-style showerhead in the luxury shower decked in marble, and a magnifying mirror. Parents will love that every bathroom comes with a modern, retractable clothes line for hanging wet bathing suits.
A coffee machine is also in each room for easy coffee or tea in the mornings. Tip: The JW Marriott rooms and suites come with an honor bar fridge. Call the property prior to your visit and request a complimentary empty mini-fridge be sent to your room.
Rooms also feature a large flat-panel TV with a premium cable package that includes CNN, ESPN, and HBO (more than one TV is available depending on the size of your room). In-room phones have speaker phone ability and voicemail. iPod docking stations are in each room, along with a radio.
Connecting rooms, rollaway beds, and playards are available, but each room can only hold four adults and one baby. For fire hazard reasons, cots are not allowed in rooms with two double beds, but a playard can be accommodated.
Guest Room
JW Marriott's opulent guest rooms are decked in soothing golden colors. The standard guest room delivers 250 square feet and offers either one king bed or two double beds. The guestroom features one 37-inch flat screen TV. The marble bathroom sports a tub/shower combo. If a glittering hotel view is a "must" on your vacation list, be sure to request a skyline view.
Deluxe Room
The deluxe guestrooms are just like the regular guestrooms, but offer a bathroom that has a stand-alone tub and shower. Request either one king bed or two-doubles.
PURE Allergy Friendly
If you or someone in your family suffers from allergies, you'll be happy to know the hotel offers PURE Allergy Friendly guestrooms that sit on the 14th floor. You'll enter your PURE room with the assurance that your room has been specially treated to eliminate growth of bacteria and viruses sometimes found in hotel rooms. All bedding and pillows are encased in a protective covering that is mold-, spore-, dust-, and dust mite-proof. An in-room air purification system recognized as a class II medical device by the FDA keeps the air circulating and clean. The PURE rooms are re-certified every six months to assure that they're working to keep guests feeling good. Request either a king bed or two doubles.
Concierge Level
Request a basic or deluxe guestroom on the concierge level (floors 23 to 25) with one king bed or two double beds and receive access to the Executive Lounge (sometimes called the Concierge Lounge at the JW).
The Executive Lounge is open seven days a week, but only serves breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. Monday through Friday, guests can expect to find an elegant display of small plates throughout the day and evening -- breakfast, midday hors d'oeuvres, dessert, cocktails (with a fee) and non-alcoholic beverages. The Executive Lounge delivers one heck of a sparkling Atlanta view and takes a load off of parents who need to keep the baby birds fed.
Note: Connecting rooms are not available on the concierge level, but rooms do come with a nice evening turndown service.
Lenox Suite
Say hello to 600 square feet of polished beauty. The Lenox Suite sprawls on the 25th floor and has access to the fabulous Executive Lounge dining room. The beautiful suite also comes with four phones, two large flat-screen TVs and an evening turndown service.

The Presidential Suite also sports a kitchenette with a mini-fridge and microwave, four phones, three large flat-screen TVs and an evening turndown service.

This is smaller than the other suites at just 400 square feet, but super cool because it has a fantastic 150-square-foot outdoor veranda with cushy furniture. It's a wonderful spot to enjoy the "wowza" view for a morning cup of coffee or an evening cocktail. In the cooler months, order hot chocolate for the kids.

One of the best hotels in the Buckhead area, and it lives up the Marriott brand. The customer service was amazing. The staff were courteous and extremely professional. I plan to stay here again whenever I visit the area.

Wonderful experience.
Rory helped with shopping ideas. The front desk folks were polite and quite positive about the hotel and Buckhead.
Room was spotless. Will stay here on my next trip.
They also recognized my Bonvoy status, which was great.
Family Activities
Lenox Square Mall
The JW Marriott has a private (secured) entrance from her sophisticated and cozy lobby to the Lenox Square Mall. Tweens and teens will dig the four levels of shopping that are home to 250 stores. The little guys will love a trip to Sprinkles, which sits on the first floor. (You remember Sprinkles, right? The owner also stars on the Cupcake Wars TV show and Sprinkles' stores sweeten the most posh zip codes of America.)
Phipps Plaza Mall
A fast drive or a quick walk (sidewalks available; just .6 miles away) is another upscale mall: the Phipps Plaza Mall. Build-A-Bear, LEGOLAND Discovery Center, Claire's, and an AMC theater are all on hand to make the kids go wild with delight.
Indoor Pool
Don't mention to the kids that the JW has a pool (just don't forget to sneak their bathing suits and goggles into your suitcase) and then watch their eyes light up when they catch sight of this beauty. It is located on the third floor and open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Family Dining
Nox Café Coffee House
The Nox Café Coffee House serves a large variety of Starbucks coffee creations, cups of fresh fruit, sandwiches and other to-go items. It's located in the lobby and open for breakfast and lunch from 6 a.m. to noon.
Nox Creek Lounge
While mixed drinks, a large wine selection, wine flights, and beer flights are the headliners, the Nox Creek Lounge's menu also brims in starters, shared appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, entrees (including a prime New York strip) and several sides. The Nox Lounge is kid-friendly thanks to the comfy booths that sit next to the traditional bar. Open daily for lunch, dinner, cocktails, and late night dining. Cooler still? Wi-Fi is always complimentary.
Nox Creek Southern Grille
Nox Creek Southern Grille is open daily for breakfast only, and offers a la carte tasty breakfasts including hand-pressed juices, dark chocolate chip (and regular) pancakes, smoothies, fresh fruit, made-to-order omelets, lox and waffles, and more. The restaurant also offers an elaborate breakfast buffet Tuesdays through Sundays from 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. The breakfast buffet is large with made-to-order omelets, pancakes, fresh fruit, pastries, and more. The vibe is clubby casual. High chairs and a kids' menu are both available. Open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to noon. It is located on the second floor.
Room Service
The JW Marriott provides an extensive menu for in-room dining from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., and a smaller menu overnight from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Planning & Tips
All About the Extras
Business Center
The business center has three DELL computers, a printer, and an office quality copy machine. It is located on the lobby floor and open 24 hours.
Fitness Center
The property has a sophisticated fitness center located on the fourth floor, with over a dozen cardio machines, weights, towels (both dry and chilled), cold water, fresh fruit, disposable earphones and a scale. The restrooms boast lockers, upscale showers and a dry sauna. Amenities like razors are also available. Open 24 hours a day.
Gift Shop
The hotel's gift shop (more like a well stocked pantry) sits in the lobby with snack foods galore -- crackers, chips, ice cream and sodas -- along with items you may have forgotten to pack. Open 24 hours a day.
Laundry
Dry cleaning services are available.
Wi-Fi
Basic Wi-Fi is $12.95 and high speed is $16.95 (Marriott Honors members automatically receive complimentary high speed Wi-Fi and all guests are encouraged to sign up - it's free). The lobby offers free Wi-Fi, as does the onsite restaurant.
Package
The JW Buckhead Family Time - Kids Eat Free in Atlanta package is offered on weekends by the hotel. Wrapped into the value-price is complimentary valet parking and complimentary children's meals (for length of stay) at the Nox Creek Southern Grille for breakfast (order from the kids' menu) and the Nox Creek Lounge for lunch and dinner (for kids 12 and under with purchase of an adult entrée).
Check-In/Check-Out
Check-in is at 3 p.m. and check out is at noon.
The Art of Smart Timing
Crowd-wise, Buckhead is slightly different from downtown Atlanta. Guests visit Buckhead for its high-end shopping, business district, and thriving restaurant scene. Summer can actually be somewhat on the quiet side, while fall through spring are busy catering to the conference crowd.
Getting There
The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International has managed to be crowned the world's busiest airport and to have received the "Efficiency Excellence" award from the Air Transport Research Society for 12 years in a row. The airport is about a 30-minute drive to the hotel with light traffic.
Getting Around
The JW Marriott offers valet parking at $34 per night and self-parking at $24 per night. The property is directly across the street from the Lenox Marta Station (that can whisk you downtown to the tourist fun: Centennial Olympic Park, Coca-Cola Museum, and the Atlanta Children's Museum).
The JW Marriott also offers complimentary car service that chauffeurs you within a 2-mile radius. Call the night before to reserve your ride.
For Mom and Dad
The luxurious Prime sits in the Lenox Mall (level four), but don't let the mall vibe sway your opinion. This sophisticated restaurant with floor to ceiling windows consistently racks up high reviews for its prime aged beef, seafood, salads, desserts and a sushi bar. Keep in mind that the JW Marriott sports a private entrance into the Lenox Mall, too, meaning there's no driving, parking or trekking involved with this fine dining experience. The restaurant is open Monday through Saturday for lunch and dinner from 11:30 am to 10:00 pm, and Sunday from 4 to 10 p.m.
