Overview

The James Royal Palm opened in November 2012 in a building that dates back to South Beach’s Art Deco period, sitting on the golden beachfront in South Beach within steps of Ocean Drive. The first of The James’ collection to open in Florida, it features 393 guest rooms, including studios and suites, many with ocean views. The hotel features two swimming pools, including a plunge pool with a waterfall, and the Pool and Beach Experience, where guests receive complimentary beach boxes with seaside essentials and access to Kindles and iPods.

Studio and lofts feature separate sleeping and living areas, providing plenty of room to feel relaxed, but families may especially enjoy the two- and three-bedroom apartments with up to 1,550 square feet of space. Two-bedroom poolside apartments feature private outdoor terraces with ocean views.

Looking for an unforgettable Miami experience? Look no further than the Royal Palm. You’ll find yourself situated right before a pristine beach. The service you’ll encounter at the Florida Cookery is second to none. If you’re lucky, you’ll be welcomed by Jenny Pierce’s warm smile. Then, you’ll move on to a delicious buffet, with service in capable hands of Michelle Caravia, Esther P and Luis. They treated our group like family! Little things make a big difference when on the road for work. Kudos to management for bringing on such a great team! Thank you for such a great stay. I can hardly wait to get back!

Ok Hotel management could be better.

The hotel is nice in terms of location and appearance and the staff at breakfast are really top notch, extremely friendly and welcoming. Pedro H and michelle were my servers most days and they always welcomed me with a smile and happy face. Pedro is very energetic and always smiling and greeting everyone everyday. He made our stay enjoying. Now the problem with this hotel is the management. Its almost non existent. I stayed here for 11 nights. A few days into my stay, i went to the front desk to request a fridge since their room dont come with fridges except the small useless sensored mini bar fridge that is filled to the brim. The lady at the front desk told me she was going to call my room later to let me know if they had one available. I never received that call. I went back a few days after to inquire and they said they dont have any, i asked if they could empty the mini bar so i could use it as a fridge, they said yes and that it would be done later that day. That didn't happen either. Till today i still have no fridge and today is night 10 for me. I also requested a comb and shaving kit via the marriott app which it shows they offer at their hotel about 3 days ago, and that also was never delivered or brought to me so i just ended up walking to walgreens to buy those items 2 days after. I would literally give this hotel a 1 star if i could but i gave them a 3 star rating because of the location, pedro and michelle. One star for each. The hotel breakfast is good but gets busy a lot and seating and service could take a while. All in all, don't expect too much from the management at this hotel. They unfortunately do not deliver 5 star service.

Family Activities

The James Royal Palm offers great kid-friendly amenities as part of the lil'james program. Upon arrival, kids receive a Kiwi Crate welcome gift that includes fun, hands-on learning through arts and crafts. Parents also receive welcome kits with area information on kid-friendly attractions and fun, including bike paths, parks and children's museums.

The hotel offers a dedicated play space designed in partnership with Miami Children's Museum. The space is filled with easels, activity tables and sand and water play stations, as well as complimentary healthy snacks and water. The lil'james beach experience features a sandcastle building area and tables with umbrellas.

Families can also request convenient roll-up artist pouches with crayons and coloring books, pre-loaded iPads and Kindles with kid-friendly books and apps, Wii and classic board games, and books. Children's bikes and helmets, car seats and infant bathtubs are also available.

Kids also receive special turndown treats of No Bake Healthy Bites.

Family Dining

Families at the James Royal Palm can dine in the hotel's signature restaurant, Florida Cookery, which provides both indoor and outdoor seating for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Thursday through Monday, and features locally sourced ingredients. The two-floor indoor/outdoor restaurant, CATCH, is a dinner destination with small plates and sushi in an Art Deco setting.

The Coffee Bar provides a place to grab a cup in the lobby, and guests can also grab a drink and small bites at the The James Club lobby lounge, which also offers games, WiFi. Parents can also experience Miami's nightlife at the hotel's subterranean SL Miami.
