This historic B&B is actually a collection of restored mansions and carriage houses in midtown Detroit. If your family wants something more unique than a chain hotel (even one in a glorious setting), a room or two at the Inn on Ferry Street will be more than perfect.
The location, within walking distance to all of midtown’s cultural highlights (Institute of Arts, Historical Society, Library, Fisher Building, etc.), can’t be beat. Add in free parking, free shuttle service within a 5-mile radius, a bountiful breakfast and Wi-Fi, and this inn is the best-kept accommodation secret in the city.

Bed and breakfast style lodging. I enjoyed the many out door areas to sit and relax. Very quiet. The breakfast was very good. We felt safe in this location. Close to Wayne State University. Our room was on the third floor which is a challenge for anyone with mobility issues and just getting the luggage to the room. I would suggest requesting a lower room for anyone who is not fond of climbing stairs as there is no elevator - at least in the mansion we were in - to the third floor. Would definitely recommend The Inn on Ferry Street.

We have stayed here three times and absolutely love it. Quaint, cozy, clean, historic buildings, and a very friendly and helpful staff. The (complimentary) shuttle can get you to most downtown entertainment venues, and the Inn is within walking distance of Wayne State, the Art Institute, and many other midtown attractions, shopping, and food establishments. Highly recommended.
