Directly across the street from the California State Capitol Building, the Hyatt Regency is a large hotel that mostly serves the business traveler visiting for weekly conferences and meetings. However, on the weekends, the hotel is wide open and welcoming to families wanting to enjoy the attractions of the city.

Rooms at the Hyatt Regency are designed to feature sitting areas with 42-inch flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi and small refrigerators. There are 505 rooms, including 19 suites. Rooms with Capitol views are generally more expensive than non-view rooms.

Standard Rooms
Standard rooms are 375 square feet and provide a king or two double beds.

Deluxe Rooms
Deluxe rooms are larger, with 470 square feet, but only a king bed.

Suites
Suites are nearly 600 square feet and provide a living area with dining table for six and a king bed. These rooms can connect to a standard room with two double beds to create a two-bedroom suite that can accommodate six or seven people. The Regency Club, located on a private floor, provides complimentary breakfast and evening hors d'ouevres and cocktails for guests with these rooms. The standard rooms are located on an upper floor with views of the Capitol or the city.

Pool
The Hyatt Regency features a resort-style swimming pool with hot tub and cabanas. Located on the ground level across the street from a park, the pool is a relaxing reprieve that is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Dawson's Steakhouse
As part of Sacramento's farm-to-table movement, Dawson's Steakhouse features farm fresh ingredients. The dinner only restaurant is the hotel's top-line dining room and features prime cuts of steak, fresh seafood and an extensive wine list. Dawson's is open from 5:30 to 10 p.m. nightly.

Vine's Café
For all-day dining, including a large breakfast buffet, visit Vines Café, which also offers farm-to-table cuisine. Open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., the casual café features a healthy California cuisine menu.

Amourath 1819
Located on an upper floor, this upscale nightclub environment also provides a pub menu for bites with indoor and outdoor seating. Fireplaces provide comfort and live music is offered on Fridays and Saturday nights. Lunch is a great time to take kids for an outdoor meal, while late nights are perfect for date nights when you can sneak away from the kids. Amourath is open 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., Monday through Fridays, and opens at 11 a.m. on weekends.

Starbucks
A Starbucks is located at the hotel's corner for all-day drinks and snacks from 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. (opens at 6 a.m. on Sundays).

The hotel is located in downtown Sacramento, just 15 minutes from Sacramento International Airport and 1 mile from the Amtrak station.

Getting Around
The Super Shuttle provides transportation between the hotel and the airport for $13 per person, each way. While some attractions are within walking distance of the hotel, you may prefer a rental car or your own vehicle to see more of the area.
