We stayed 3 nights in this very nice hotel. Room (3rd floor "lake view with balcony") was nicely done and bed very comfortable. View was fine, though I'm sure the higher floors had better views. The "balcony" was about 18" X 30" (literally), so don't expect
a lounge chair! There's really no alternative to the $35 NZD daily valet parking as nearby parking is very scarce and the hotel is uphill from the city.

Located a five minute walk from the main part of town, and up a small two block hike, we loved the location. Just high enough to garner commanding views of lake and mountains. Thoughtful that hotel provides free cab vouchers for return from town, but hill is quite insignificant and our vouchers went unused. Overall ambiance of hotel is high end ski lodge. On last morning, hot water didn't work -- boiler problem. Hotel staff didn't seem to be trained on what to do, understandably if this is rare occurrence. One woman was irate at front desk for not reducing room rate; I quietly asked them to comp breakfast which they readily did.
