First of all: if you’re a family whose first priorities in a hotel are a pool and a free breakfast, Hotel Rose may disappoint you. However, if you’re looking to experience the true “flavors” of Portland, it’s a funky and unique place to stay that really captures the character of the city whose mantra is “Keep Portland Weird.” Families, stay in a double — either waterfront or metropolitan view — which accommodate up to four guests and include a fridge, coffee maker, in-room bottled water, complimentary bath amenities, and even bathrobes and slippers. Towels and bedding are fluffy, luxurious, and cozy — and in European style, everyone has their own duvet so your covers are never stolen at night.
Although there is not a full breakfast, there is something that the kids might enjoy more: a daily afternoon reception where you can enjoy delicious signature pineapple cupcakes (plus coffee) and pineapple water, a nod to the hotel’s parent company. Also included with your stay are complimentary bicycle checkouts, so you can explore Portland by wheels. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are available at the onsite restaurant, Bottle + Kitchen.

We really enjoyed the stay the first time. The staff is always very friendly, fast at checking you in, and give wonderful tips. Parking being included is great as well as being able to drop off your bags before check in. They even got us in early. The only thing this time was the heat in the rooms. We couldn't adjust it and it was extremely hot from the heater so we had to crack the windows. The beds being comfy offset the heat but it was still a little hard to sleep.

We have stayed at this hotel multiple times. The location can't be beat. The downstairs lounge is fantastic. Small, but has a huge fireplace. Rooms are modern. We will return this winter. We love the fact that it is a short walk to so many great Portland shops, restaurants, etc.
