Kids will love running around in the green, flowery garden courtyard, and their parents will appreciate the incredible value of this hotel in the heart of Antigua. Located right by the Santa Catalina arc (one of Antigua’s most photographed sites), this warm and welcoming hotel provides a “tipico” Guatemalan vibe with colonial architecture and Mayan textiles. Marimba music, a hearty traditional breakfast and a rooftop bar with sangria make this a solid bet. Tip: Ask for a garden view room for a quieter night and views of Volcán de Agua.

I've traveled to Antigua annually for 27 years. With other options full for one night of my stay, I resorted to Don Rodrigo. Given the room quality, it is very overpriced. The room had no ventilation, no openable windows, musty, and dark. Not terrible, but certainly not worth the price
