Hotel Pekin is a quirky hotel on the Malecon. The hotel is attached to a restaurant under the same name, and meals can be charged to your guestroom account. Every room is modestly furnished with themed decor. It’s a budget-friendly option that offers double rooms that sleep four and triple rooms that sleep up to five people.

The hotel is a great choice if you’re in a tight budget, it’s clean and it’s right in Malecón, with a beach view and many places within walking distance! A great choice
However Alejandro the receptionist is far from friendly, he not only gave us attitude but was also very snappy towards people simply because “they weren’t guests of the hotel” probably one of the worst people that could be in charge at front desk.
Place him somewhere where he doesn’t have to treat tourists directly as it’s obvious he doesn’t care about the image of the hotel or customer service at all.
Other than that it’s a great choice!

We booked this hotel as an inexpensive layover. Were we ever surprised. Yes it is old and yes there are so many different stairways you think you are in an Escher painting. But it is fun. The old school rooms are large with high ceilings, recently renovated, new paint, crown molding, immaculately clean. TV, WiFi, AC, comfy beds, what's not to like at these prices and right on the Malecon. Mid floor there is a small self serve kitchen with water and coffee. There is a great Chinese restaurant downstairs. The staff are friendly and helpful. We would stay here again for sure.
