This small boutique hotel opened in 2015 and is a modern, hip property in the heart of Old Town. The original building was a resident of goldsmiths, giving the hotel its name. Only 16 rooms are available with single or double beds, but with its intimate size, families can book multiple rooms and be separated but close. A Rooftop Suite is available to sleep five to six guests with two separate bedrooms, two bathrooms and a rooftop terrace providing the best views of the city. The ground-floor restaurant, Gasthof Goldgasse, is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., serving locally sourced menu items.

To be honest we arrived a bit harried and cranky since drove in on Austrian National Day so finding parking was a bit of a mess. We really should have phoned ahead to get the parking garage location. Josh handled our check in beautifully and immediately put us back at ease. The room was gorgeous and the private rooftop terrace that came with it was a wonderful place for us to enjoy a quiet moment after a long day of sightseeing.

This was a little tricky to navigate. You need a code to drive into the pedestrian area after 10:30 or 11:00 in the morning. The room was small but the hotel had a great location down the street from the cathedral and Residenz.
When you left the hotel you could wander the connecting plazas and shops as well as the major old town attractions. The staff was helpful with the luggage to and from the street and the parking garage is discounted through the hotel although it can be a challenge to reach the garage if you are not allowed to traverse the pedestrian area due to construction.
