My wife and I stayed at El Rey Del Caribe for 4 nights, and had an amazing experience. We wanted to stay closer to the downtown area instead of being in the hotel zone, and were very happy we picked this hotel! Despite being close to main roads, bus stops, and markets, it was incredible how quiet it was while inside the hotel. It has a locked exterior door at night and a full-time attendant to buzz you in, so we never felt unsafe. We speak some casual Spanish, but never had any issues interacting with the staff (who are all incredibly friendly). The pool is very nice, and there are plenty of areas to relax and lounge/read outside of your room. The room was spacious, and contained a mini-fridge and safe. Breakfast is freshly prepared from a set menu. Considering the price, El Rey del Caribe was an outstanding value and we would highly recommend to anyone who is looking to stay outside the hotel zone!
