the best address in copenhagen

by allan-eimert

since i live near copenhagen i don´t usually stay at the hotel, but many of our guests do. a couple of years ago the hotel was closed for a total refurbishing and the result is stunning. the rooms are very pleasant and the facilities at the hotel are just great. to have a snack at the bar overlooking a big square is very nice especially now that the construction of the metro is concluded. their restaurant has a michelin star and is a must.

Copenhagen’s top hotel, but...

I am an ex-Copenhagener and I always regarded the d’Angleterre with pride in that Denmark would not fall behind the rest of Europe when it comes to 5* hotels. Well, the corner suites are nice, orderly and clean, so far so good.

Room service breakfast is disappointing. No fresh bakery in a city that is famed for its Danish. Instead you are served some humble and dry pre-fab rolls and very modest cheese cuts. Are they trying to save money?

The dinner in the restaurant is a catastrophe and one wonders how the hotel can get away with it. Again it is obvious that the varieties have been ‘saved away’, portions are small, cuisine half-experimental and have a look at their cheese trolley. Looks like left-overs there is nothing on the plate.

Staff is very polite and professional, but they need to improve things in the kitchen. What a shame.
