We only stayed one night here after we landed in San Jose from London but it was great. The staff were lovely and welcoming, the hotel is comfortable and loved. The pool was clean and nice and the bar tender attentive [in a non pushy way] from the moment we arrived. The food here was fabulous, the best we have had in Costa Rica. We ate in the restaurant on the evening and had breakfast. The drinks were also wonderful, well made cocktails, coffee and smoothies - all delicious.

My boyfriend and me stayed two nights at Hotel Buena Vista and we enjoyed our stay so much. Not only did the staff still pick us up for free from the airport even though our flight arrived with a delay of four hours (!) but also the facilities and food of the hotel were very good. The view from the Superior Rooms and the Villas is fabulous and the hotel is situated in a quiet place (of course you hear the airplanes from time to time, this cannot be avoided being located so close to the airport). The staff from the reception is very helpful with excursion recommendations, e.g. Doka coffee plantation is very nearby (you can book the hotel transfer easily). The rooms are refreshingly decorated with typical Costa Rican icons and designs and the new managing directors are very motivated to keep the great character of this hotel up. This hotel is very recommendable to anyone who doesn´t want to go to San José and prefers to spend some relaxing days after arrival or before flying back to the homecountry. Only point of improvement: the menu for dinners at the moment lacks vegetarian courses but if you are vegetarian, the waiter is happy to make some proposals.
